How to download YouTube videos
Start with a public video you own or have permission to download. This guide follows the same steps as the tool, from a Share link to a saved file.
1. Copy a link to one video
Use the Share control on YouTube or copy the address of the video itself. Supported forms include youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID, youtu.be/VIDEO_ID and youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID. The ID represents the individual video.
Extra playlist parameters do not request a batch: only the selected video is processed. Channel URLs, playlist-only URLs and active livestreams are rejected. Never submit account passwords or private access tokens.
2. Read the format details
Select Get download options and wait for source analysis. Confirm the thumbnail, title and channel to make sure you selected the right video. The format list is specific to that source and the configured server limits.
MP4 and WebM describe containers, not a promise that every device can decode every stream. MP4 with compatible video and audio is a practical choice when it is listed. Check the audio label; video-only streams do not contain sound on their own.
A source may provide video and audio separately. For supported combinations the worker combines them into the selected output container. It does not increase resolution or disguise one format as another. Estimated file sizes are explicitly marked.
3. Let the background job finish
Prepare download puts the selected format into the queue. Queued means a worker has not started that stage. Downloading means media bytes are being fetched. Merging means compatible streams are being combined. A percentage appears only when the worker has enough information to measure it.
Keep this browser session open. You can cancel an unfinished job from its status area. Don’t submit repeated copies when a queue is busy; wait and retry after the capacity message clears.
4. Save the file before expiry
The ready status shows a Save file button. The temporary link lasts 30 minutes from the time processing finishes. Saving the file creates a local copy; simply watching the status page does not save it.
Use your browser’s download list to locate the result. If a mobile browser opens a preview, use that browser’s supported save or download action. Available controls vary by browser and device. An expired server file must be prepared again from the original link.
Know the service boundaries
This installation allows up to 30 minutes per video, 500 MiB per output and 1080p when offered by the source. Public availability does not guarantee server access. Private, paid, DRM-protected and other restricted sources are unsupported.
If your own video cannot be processed, use an authorized original file or the creator’s own download option when one exists. EmberSave does not provide a method to bypass source restrictions.
